Safety and Safeguarding Technology

Safety and safeguarding for every Little is our highest priority. We've developed a structured, system-driven approach-our Safety and Safeguarding Technology-to ensure each Little is protected within A New Big Brother's system that are safe and secure. It includes a rigorous screening and vetting process with background checks, our proprietary Big Brother Certification Program, to prepare Big Brothers with proper training in male development, and a clear session kickoff agreement that empowers each Little to recognize concerns, pause or disengage at any time.

  • Every Big Brother undergoes a comprehensive screening and vetting process before joining the program. This includes background checks, interviews, and mandatory safeguarding requirements to ensure the highest standards of safety and professionalism. Our process is designed to help provide a safe, trustworthy, and supportive experience for every Little Brother.

  • Every Big Brother is required to complete mandated reporter and youth safeguarding training as part of our certification process. This training helps mentors recognize, respond to, and properly report concerns involving child safety and well-being.

  • Every Big Brother is required to sign binding agreements that establish clear standards of conduct, professionalism, and accountability. These agreements reinforce our expectations for appropriate behavior, communication, and safeguarding practices throughout the mentorship experience

  • A structured agreement read at the start of each session that empowers every Little Brother to recognize concerns, pause or disengage at any time, and report issues directly to parents or the organization.

Safety and Safeguarding Policy

A New Big Brother defines “technology” not only as digital tools, but as a systematic safeguarding process designed to ensure safety, accountability, and participant empowerment. Our Safety and Safeguarding Technology consists of three integrated components: (1) a rigorous screening and vetting process, including interviews, background checks, and binding agreements that establish clear standards of conduct and enforce accountability; (2) a comprehensive Big Brother Certification Program that equips mentors with the training and judgment required to responsibly guide youth; and (3) a structured session kickoff agreement, read aloud at the beginning of engagement, that empowers each Little Brother to recognize potential concerns, disengage at any time, and report issues to parents and the organization. This layered system is intentionally designed to minimize risk, reinforce continuous oversight, and ensure that every participant has both protection and the authority to act if needed. As we scale, we remain committed to ongoing research and development of more advanced digital safeguards to further strengthen our safety, oversight, and accountability systems.As we scale, we will continue developing and implementing more advanced digital safeguarding technologies to further ensure the safety, protection, and well-being of every Little Brother in our program.
